Secularism Vs Communalism

 

Introduction: There is no actual definition of the political term “secularism” & “communalism”. Different definitions are given by different persons and in different places. Here I want to analyze the definitions given by the users and verify the reality of so-called secularism & communalism.

 

Secularism: There are various definition against each other is available.

 

1. Secularism means the absence of religion. All religions would be forbidden. Nobody could follow the religion. Example: Communist Russia.
2. Secularism means the neutrality about religions. Each person could be liberal about his religious freedom. Anybody could not prevent the religious movement of any person. Government has no right to interfere over anybody’s religion.
3. All religions would be permitted except Islam. Example: Kamal Pasha’s Turkey.
4. Religious activity would be permitted only in personal and religious life, but in governments and society, it would be forbidden. Example: Bangladesh Awami League.

 

So, we see that, there is no specific definition of so-called secularism. There have no similarity between above definitions. There is no way to make adjustment between the definitions. So, it has no reality. It is totally baseless and bogus issue.

 

For the absence of any clear definition, secularism has make advantage to use it as a sword against Islam and Muslims. The enemies of Islam— both unbelievers and hypocrites, who want to pullout Islam from the human life, are take shelter under the umbrella of secularism to oppose and prevent Islamic ideology. Where possible, they forbid Islam from the political and social life. Where possible, they pullout Islam from every stage of human life and eliminate the religious freedom of Muslims and forbid their faith, belief and prayer.

 

If the people of every religious community sacrifice their own religion for the sake of secularism, only Islam and Muslims will be losses exclusively. Because, only Islam is a real religion and it has ability to drive the whole human life. The other religions have nothing; those have only a communal identity and a name. They have anything to loss. Can anybody expel his living healthy son in exchange of burial of the dead body of the son of his counterpart? We can give an example, if the Muslim countries propose to make a nuclear-free world, would the non-Muslim super powers agree it? Because the non Muslims have uncountable nuclear bomb and Muslims have no bomb except a few. In nuclear power, non-Muslims are superior and Muslims are weak and poor. As same, in religious power and strength, Islam is prosperous and self-sufficient; and other religions are totally zero. So, Islam is the only victim of secularism. Besides, neutrality about truth and false is injustice over truth. God-gifted true complete code of life could not be compared with man-made baseless false so-called religions.

 

We can demand near the exponents of secularism to select one of the definitions above or give any other alternative definition. We have no objection about 2^nd definition. Although we have not agreed with compare our religion with other religions, we do not want to use force on other religious community. But if you choose from rest of the three definitions, it could not be acceptable. It would neither reasonable nor justice. If you choose 2^nd definition, you have not found any way to blame Bangladesh. You could not tell the name of any political leader or party, who disagree about the religious liberty and citizen rights of the minority people. You must accept Bangladesh as a secular country.

 

 

Communalism: Communalism is also a debated and comparative issue. There are following definitions about communalism.

 

1. Following anybody’s own religion is a communalism. Because, it can separate him from other community and show difference between the religious communities. Practicing religion can divide the people by religion and destroy the unity.
2. Take extreme policy towards other religious community and launch enemy activity against them. Trying to harm and harass the innocent people because of only the religious or ethnic difference.
3. Following and practicing Islam is a communalism, but take any other religion or ideology or doctrine (atheism, communism etc.) are not communalism— those are secularism.
4. To want establish religious ideology and laws in government and administration.

 

In above definitions, only 2^nd definition is reasonable and real. 1^st definition is unreasonable. Because, despite of religious difference, people can live in peace and tolerance. Religion could not teach extremism, it teaches mercy and co-operation. 3^rd definition is clearly injustice and partial. About 4^th definition, if anybody can rule a country by religious law without any harming the minority people or violating their rights, there has not any reason for objection. In a Nigerian Province, Muslim rulers were declare Islamic law only on the Muslim people, they were declared that, this law would not be applicable towards Christians; but despite of this declaration, Christians protest it and launch a massacre and ethnic cleansing on the innocent Muslim people.

 

According to the 2^nd definition, you could never prove the presence of communalism in Bangladesh. Kindly tell the name of any political party or Islamic organisation, who declare to pullout the Hindus or expose determination to breaking any ‘mandir’. Kindly tell the name of any Muslim leader, who suggest or encourage to rape on Hindu women. But if you put a single moment to the neighbouring country, you could see that, the Hindu extremist leaders and organisations and political parties are openly take such actions against minority Muslims. Besides, their fellow Bangladeshi Hindu extremist leaders are also declaring their determination to throw the Muslim people in Bay of Bengal. Indian Hindu communal leaders have already fulfil their declared agenda and Bangladeshi Hindu communal leaders are trying to do it by co-operating with their secular collaborators and foreign masters.

 

Burning alive the thousands of Muslim people by Hindu militants is not communalism, but practicing Islam in personal and political life and wanting to hold Islamic ideology and Muslim identity is communalism!

 

Communalism or Hindu repression in Bangladesh is only available in the novel of Humayun Azad and Taslima Nasrin. Shahriar Kabir make video in Calcutta by taking interview of Indian Hindus and reflect them as Bangladeshi refugee. But any video or picture is available in national or international media or newspaper, which can realise the blame of Minority repression in Bangladesh. Shahriar Kabir reflects the Chinese Muslim’s religious movements to dispel the propaganda about Muslim repression and human rights violation. So, why this logic would not be applicable about Bangladesh? Why the secure and undisturbed ‘Durga Puja’ would not be a proof of the security and religious liberty of the minority people of Bangladesh? How he discover the minority people in Bangladesh as helpless, repressed, exploited and ill-fated?

 

Shahriar Kabir claims to launch movement for realizing the rights and ensuring the dignity of the minority people. But actually he want to encourage them against majority Muslims and create ethnic and communal violence in our country. He also wants to invite the foreign communalist and crusader invaders to pullout the Muslim people of Bangladesh. The hypocrites of Medina were also working in minority people and claiming to establish communal peace and integrity. Allah told about them, “When they being asked, Don’t create violence on the earth, they claim, We are only make peace and cooperation. Remember, they are the violence creator, but they could not understand.’’ (Sura Bakara: 11, 12)

 

Shahriar Kabir is recognised as a Prisoner of Conscience by Prof. Kabir Chowdhury. But imagine that, if any Indian Muslim leader describes the communal atrocities of his country by going any foreign Muslim country (i.e. Pakistan or Bangladesh) and invite Pakistan or Taliban to help the oppressed people, could he return his country? If he returns, would his head still on his body? But in Bangladesh, Hindu communalist leaders and their ally secular leaders describe imaginary and false history against peace-loving Muslim people, but do not suffer without some day’s detention. And that minor punishment is recognised as an injustice step!

 

Prof. Kabir Chowdhury has compared Jamaat-i-Islami with Siva Sena and Viswa Hindu Parishad. But he did not tell the name of BJP, which was directly involved in destroying the Babri Mosque. He recognised Islami Salvation Army in Algeria, Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt or Asia, as threats to peace, progress and stability. But He did not condemn the brutality of Military rulers in Algeria, dictator government in Egypt. He did not find any communalism in Israeli brutality over Palestinians or Indian Army’s atrocity over Kashmiri Muslims.

 

What do you tell about the George W. Bush’s crusade? Is it not a communalism? What is your opinion about the US massacre over the innocent Afghan and Iraqi people? You have not only avoid the condemnation, but also encourage and suggest them to launch military strike on Bangladeshi Muslim people like Afghan and Iraq style by the name of solution of so-called minority problem. By the name of an imaginary issue minority repression, you want to create a real problem by launch massacre over the majority people. What is it? Secularism, or Communalism? Please judge yourself.

 

Now I want to introduce another question. Would communalism defined only in religious angle? What do you think about the extremism and militancy for the difference of locality, territory, language or political party? Why these things are also not included in communalism?

 

Any kind of extremism is communalism. Extreme nationalism or colourism is also a part of communalism. If you do undemocratic behave to your counterpart political party and want to uproot any community, which agenda is shown in the name of your organisation, is also an example of communalism. Besides, for being a communal, it is not necessary to become a member of any religious community or political party or organisation. If you cherish blind enmity towards any religion or community and want to pullout them, you will be counted as a communal— although if you are not follower of any separate religion or doctrine.

 

Islam is not a communal religion. Although Islam has declared itself only one acceptable and true religion, but it does not allow converting the people to it by force. An Islamic state ensures safety, security and religious liberty of the minority citizens. But when the Muslims are face oppression and aggression because of their faith and belief, they have to rights to prevent and resistance. Islam is against any kind of repression and injustice. Islam does not allow anybody to harm or harass the people, make blockade in the path of Allah and giving pressure on the believer and faithful people to leave their true religion. Muslims are involved in fighting in order to save their lives, honours and religion and free the humanity from the brutality and dictatorship. They fight only against criminals, terrorists and oppressors. Islamic Jihad is for prevent devil power and protect humanity. It is not communalism. It is not terrorism. About behaviour to the non-Muslim, Quran said, “Those who have never fought against you in case of religion and did not expel you from your land, Allah never forbid you to good behaviour and justice with them. Allah only forbid about them, who have fought with you in case of religion, expelled your from your land and helped about expelling you.” (Sura Mumtahina: 8, 9) So, it is clear that, Islam does not encourage bad behaviour because of only religion. It is depend on only other’s behaviours.

 

 

Fundamentalism: About fundamentalism, we have known different definitions.

1.      Following any religion sincerely.

2.      Superstition and blind faith by the name of religion, or fanaticism and excess in religion.

3.      Use religion for get religious or political leadership or power and exploit people for take economic advantage by the name of religion.

4.      Following religion in politics

5.      Following only Islam is fundamentalism, but other religions or doctrines is not so.

 

We can reject, condemn or oppose only those, who are defined in 2^nd and 3^rd category. We should judge each category separately and should not mix them with each other. Being included in 1^st category would not any crime in any trial. About 4^th category, if anybody wants to follow the religion properly, obviously he would follow it also in his political life. So, you could not blame him. Those persons or group, whom you recognise fundamentalist, and you may include them in 3^rd category, but they are try to practicing their religion and maintain honesty. Their leaders have not involved any corruption or looting or exploiting. They take power and leadership only establish their ideology. They have no hypocrisy about their faith and belief. About 5^th definition, we have no comment.

 

After all, the definition of fundamentalism should not limit for one religion or ideology. Any person or party or organisation, who wants to hold his/their own ideology or policy, must be recognised as a fundamentalist. Any kind of fanaticism is fundamentalism. Besides, blind obedience and belief to any political leader or foreign country is also fundamentalism. The great fundamentalists are those, who loss their fair and foul judgement for supporting any groups or circle, confined with them and support blindly and unconditionally all of their activities.

 

 

Conclusion: By analyzing the definitions and the role of their exponents, we can take decision that—  secularism, communalism or fundamentalism is not any real issue. These all are totally bogus, baseless and valueless issue. These are nothing but the way of cheating. I believe, nobody could give proper and appropriate definition of these terms. If the missionaries of secularism can specify any definition, they have to be needed to change their definition by change the time and place. Because, this is the nature of hypocrisy. Their only goal would remain unchanged— prevent the true religion. This is a satanic tactics to cover the truth by the mask of false.
